Flute Cleaning Kits

Attach this handy and stylish pouch to your flute case handle to keep your cleaning materials convenient!  You’ve made a significant investment in your flute, so you should take good care of it by swabbing the inside every time you play and polishing the outside as needed.

Why is it necessary?

In case you didn’t know: keeping your cleaning cloth inside your hard flute case can damage your flute over time.  Tying the cloth around the case handle or keeping it in a bag with other items exposes it to dust, dirt, and fraying, and you don’t want dirt/dust/loose threads inside of your flute!

These breathable mesh bags provide a convenient storage spot for your cleaning cloths and keeps them more protected from dirt/dust/wear, but allows them to dry between uses.  They’re just the right size – compact, but large enough for ease of use.

Each kit includes:

  • Absorbent cotton cleaning cloth (for inside of flute)
  • Soft microfiber suede polishing cloth (for outside of flute)
  • Breathable mesh zipper pouch (multiple color options)
  • Colorful and sturdy key rings to attach pouch to flute case handle (hand-sewn to pouch)

Tips on pouch attachment & how to clean your flute:

  • Attach to the bottom side of your case handle so that the pouch stays out of the way when you open the case and so that the cloths are easily in reach when the case is open.
  • If you store a pencil in the pouch, use a mechanical pencil and push the lead in before storing to avoid getting graphite or wood particulate material from pencil sharpening on your cleaning cloths.
  • Wash your cleaning and polishing cloths fairly regularly.  (Set up a recurring reminder every 3 months on a calendar to stay on track with this.)
  • Polishing:  If there is particulate matter (e.g. fine-grain dirt or some other potentially abrasive material) on your flute, you may want to dampen the polishing cloth and very gently swab the material away, then wash the polishing cloth before using it again.  No matter how soft the cloth, you could scratch your flute if you rub grime against it.  (In purchasing this kit, you agree not to hold me liable for any scratches or other issues caused when cleaning your flute.  I did test both the cleaning and polishing cloths on my own flute and found them satisfactorily soft.)
